Nora DongT:When did you discover your special talent and passion in illustration and start your art journey?
N:I have always loved to draw growing up but never thought I would have an opportunity to turn it into a career. I studied fashion design and worked as a visual merchandiser and creative designer before becoming an illustrator. After moving to the United States in 2019, I rediscovered my passion for illustrating and started to share my artwork on social media. I never imagined I would amass an audience of followers or receive so many messages explaining how my work inspires them. This made me realize that I was perhaps on my way to living my childhood dream.
T:How did you develop your own artistic approach and make it so uniquely “Nora”?
N:As I began drawing, I didn’t have a definitive style but I have always been drawn to the warm and romantic feelings of life. Through consistently drawing these themes, I was able to naturally develop my style.
T:What inspires you?
N:I love the city I grew up in and the unforgettable experiences I obtained from working in fashion industry. It gave me the chance to meet different women with a strong passion for life and work. All these things continue to inspire my artwork.
T:What do you hope your audience will receive and feel when they come across your artworks?
N:My artworks usually depict different life moments so I hope my audience will feel warmth and joy while remembering to live and reflect on these moments in their own life.
